Energy Forum

The purpose of the Energy Forum meetings is to provide a professional platform where professional can discuss specific energy related topics. At the same time, the Forum allows multilateral discussions encouraging projects in the fields of renewable and energy conservation. The forum meetings serve as a platform for defining professional, applicable positions, to be used by relevant decision makers.

Clean Energy Innovation Policy in Israel

The purpose of the project is to analyze the policy lessons arising from Israel's successful efforts to initiate, guide, and accelerate the process of technological innovation in the field of clean energy. The intention is to identify the basic principles of policy shaping that can be applied to any set of technologies and to other countries in different political, economic, and technological contexts. Based on a detailed analysis of these principles, the project formulates a series of general recommendations of best practices for innovation policy in the field of clean energy.

The reform in the electricity sector has created a new reality that aims to gradually reduce the generation of electricity by the Israel Electric Company (IEC) and shift it to private electricity producers while keeping, at the same time, the transmission, distribution, and metering in the hands of the IEC. The management of the system and the PDT (Planning, Development, and Technology) branch of the IEC is planned to be entrusted in the hands of an independent government company.
