Food Security 2050 – Economic-Environmental Assessment

The report analyzes these three central challenges in shaping food security in Israel and the interdependence among them. Thus, the reliance of processing methods on resource management, focusing on the availability and quality of land and water by 2050; the impact of land and water availability, that depend on climate change, on the quantity and quality of food, and especially the production of animal feed and protein; and lastly, the impact of the shift in dietary preferences and demand for various food types on local production volume, resource management, processing methods, and the feasibility to establish food security in Israel.

Teaching Programs for Healthy Nutrition in the Education System: Examples, Characteristics and Insights from Israel and the World

This document, which is based mainly on a literature review, presents some examples and characteristics of various programs for teaching healthy nutrition in the education system, together with insights emerging from evaluation studies. In addition, key points from World Health Organization policy documents are also presented.
Healthy nutrition programs and health promoting schools are part of the current and past efforts to provide nutrition education in Israeli schools. This review may provide additional knowledge and insights that can assist in further developing programs for the Israeli education system.

The interim report is part of our effort to shape Israel’s national policy for food security in 2050. The report focuses on the recommended diet for 2050 in Israel and its implications, defining the composition, structure, and content of the Mediterranean nutrition plate that aligns with Israeli culture, tastes, lifestyle, climate and agricultural conditions, while ensuring a sustainable and healthy diet.
