Review of the Impact of Natural Gas Based Transportation Fuels on Air Quality
As Israel attempts to diversify its energy sources, its use of natural gas is rapidly expanding, taking advantage of discovered resources off Israel’s shores in the Eastern Mediterranean. Due to expansion of offshore operations and broader introduction of natural gas into the Israeli economy, emissions of associated air pollutants along with other potential environmental and […]
Private electric transportation readiness guide for municipalities – 2nd Edition
Electric mobility fundamentally changes the demand patterns of energy used for the transportation of people and goods, which is a vital share of any modern economy. The gradual replacement of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles with electric vehicles (EVs) is expected to carry broad implications over the energy sector, as well as both the natural […]
Lessons Learned from Select Countries and Cities Policy Measures to Reduce Air Pollution from the Transportation Sector
Management of air pollution from transportation refers to the dynamic process a regulatory authority undertakes to reduce, prevent/eliminate air pollution emissions and their harmful effects on human health and the environment. The process of managing air quality, including from the transportation sector sources, consists of a cycle of inter-related activities, including periodic assessments and reviews […]

Energy Forum 44: Environmental, economic, and security considerations concerning the location of the gas treatment platform for the Leviathan reservoir
Abstract in English: As a result of the gas discoveries, the State of Israel has recognized the connection of offshore drilling to the shore as a national infrastructure project, and therefore, the need to implement a National Master Plan (NOP) on the subject was raised. The main conclusions of NOP 37/H “Receiving and Treatment of […]
Electric Vehicles Charging Infrastructure in Israel: Implementation Policy and Technical Guidelines
The objectives of the research are to review the best practices for the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, specify optimal models for the Israeli case, and provide actionable guidelines for implementation. The focus of the research is public charging infrastructure for passenger electric vehicles and Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), which represents the vast […]
Energy Forum 40: Natural gas for transportation in Israel
The problem of air pollution, resulting from the emission of pollutants in exhaust gas from motor vehicles, is growing worse, in the world and in Israel – especially in city centers. Compressed natural gas (CNG) is currently considered the most promising alternative fuel because of its availability and ecological advantages. Globally, there are millions of […]
Global Estimates Of Methane Emissions from Off-Shore Drilling Plants and Their Importance
The study reviews, for the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the world’s regulations and methodologies for estimating methane emissions in the natural gas sector. In addition, the study presents an opinion that addresses the relevance of these methodologies and their application to estimating methane emissions from natural gas facilities in Israel. Methane (CH4) is emitted into […]
Israeli Oil and Gas Sector – Economic and Geopolitical Aspects
The document presents a review of the Israeli oil and gas sector at the beginning of 2016. It examines how Israel is affected by changes in global energy trends, what has been the impact on the country from the oil price decline, the financial and environmental benefits of the gas discoveries on the Israeli economy, […]
Evaluating Benefits of Transportation Tunnels – The Carmel Tunnels as a Case Study
The study analyses direct benefits (time and fuel saving) and indirect benefits (noise and air pollution reduction) due to driving in the Carmel tunnels. Results show positive benefits, yet, these benefits depend on time of travelling in the tunnels.
