Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC) is a national network of students, faculty members, and professionals, whose goal is to strengthen the pro-Israel movement on campuses across the US. The research department of the ICC addressed SNI and requested a review of the development of academic relations between Israel and the United States over the past decade.

During 2015, the Samuel Neaman Institute submitted a report to ICC describing trends in the development of academic relations between Israel and the U.S. over the past decade, as reflected in the changes that occurred in number of the joint publications by American and Israeli researchers. Among the topics examined are quantitative trends in joint research outputs, leading areas of joint research outputs, leading institutions in joint research outputs, and more. Special emphasis was placed on the fields of social sciences and humanities.

Next, the Samuel Neaman Institute conducted an examination of the development of academic relations between Israel and the US as they are manifested in students’ study programs abroad, i.e., student exchange programs (Study Abroad), and the mutual recognition of credits. As part of this research, we conducted in depth interviews with people involved with activities for American students who chose Israel as their study abroad destination, in order to describe the trends and changes in such activities during the last decade.
