For 15 years, no building passed the tallest tower in Israel. Recently Sarona Azrieli Tower surpassed Moshe Aviv Tower (by 3.5 meters). Four towers of 50-plus floors are in progress, and many others are in planning stages. This is often an ego factor rather than the correct economic or urban policy.

Prof. Rachelle Alterman warns about the phenomenon of residential towers located beyond the expensive central areas of major cities. Such towers are designed for middle-income households, who lack the resources to fully finance the Maintenance costs for the long-range, accelerated deterioration is inevitable
