Depending on the Chinese
Arnon Bentur
Thousands of construction workers from China are expected to land soon in Israel following an agreement signed this week between the Minister of Housing and senior officials from a Chinese delegation that arrived in Israel. Hope that the additional housing headquarters Chinese workers contribute to shortening the duration of the construction of apartments in new-a necessary step toward solving the housing crisis. The Chinese, for their part, complement another step of deepening economic involvement in the Middle East and in Israel, in accordance with the current strategy of the Chinese government.
The research at Neaman Institute suggests that this mode of action may provide temporary relief to the pressure for housing, but it will not serve the long term objective of mobilizing the current challenge as an opportunity to overhaul the construction sector in Israel, to turn it into an industry of high level productivity, to benefit the whole Israeli economy and provide attractive jobs to Israeli citizens.

Yet, everything obeys Newton’s law, which says things fall to the earth – except perhaps the economy of Israel ‒, which continues to thrive despite all the odds and obstacles, when many other Western economies remain stagnant and shackled.
