First and foremost, I define myself as a social activist. I chose to study Political Science and Sociology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I left academia with a strong foundation in the values of social justice, which led me to a position at one of the best schools for activism – the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, as Director of the International Humanitarian Law Program. There I acquired the practical tools to turn values into action.
In the years that followed, I led several organizations working in areas such as environmental health, gender and the Middle East. While these may seem like separate fields, they are in fact united by a common set of values and methods.
Six years ago, I made a shift and stepped in to the Technion. I learned two important things: First, that the Technion is an excellent arena for social change. Second, its power and influence extend far beyond the campus walls. As part of the Technion’s Social Hub, we developed a set of community engagement courses, within half of the faculties.
One of my greatest loves is traveling. A few years ago, I fulfilled a dream and studied Tourism at the University of Haifa. My thesis focused on the phenomenon of women-only trips abroad – a popular and unique trend that I sought to map and better understand.
