Efraim Lev is a full professor at the department of Israel Studies at the University of Haifa. He was Head of Department of Special BA Program and Dean of Humanities at the University of Haifa, and Head of the Department of Humanities and Arts at the Technion.
He was trained as a historian and as a field biologist and therefore his academic work has always had a strong interdisciplinary focus especially on the history of medicine and pharmacology in the medieval Muslim lands.
He spent his post-doctoral period at the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine in London, and was later a few times Visiting Scholar at St. John’s College, Cambridge.
At 2012 he won the George Urdang Medal for pharmaco-historical writings and at 2017 he won a medal and membership of the International Academy of the History of Pharmacy.
Prof. Lev have published so far 9 books, 94 referred articles and 13 chapters
