Sample groups (N=692) within various Haredim<\/em> (Ultra-Orthodox) communities in Israel were surveyed in order to examine their perceptions, awareness and preparedness towards emergency situations, with special focus on earthquakes.<\/p>\n

In addition, several in-depth interviews were conducted with senior decision-makers in the area of emergency and with several opinion-leaders within the U-O community.<\/p>\n

The results of the study reveal that Haredim<\/em>, in general, perceive the likelihood of an earthquake to happen in the country and in their specific area of residency as medium-low, but their risk assessment regarding themselves and their family members is very low.<\/p>\n

In addition, The U-O population recognize the necessity for emergency preparedness in general, and toward earthquakes in particular. Nevertheless, they expect that such actions will be adapted to their ways of life and values.\u00a0 The report includes specific and operational recommendations in relevant areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
