The international conference "The insects in the service of man" was held in Afula on March 6. The Samuel Neaman Institute was one of the initiators of the conference following a research report submitted by the Center for Industrial Excellence at the Samuel Neaman Institute to the Municipality of Afula, which recommended the establishment of an international center for insects in the service of human beings.

won the prestigious Energy Prize of the American Association of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) The Frank Kreith Energy Award

The President of the State, Reuven Rivlin, received the report of the Samuel Neaman Institute Grand Strategy Forum for Israel from Prof. Uzi Arad and Prof. Zehev Tadmor at the President's Residence. The President stressed: "The Forum for Grand Strategy is a hostel for intelligent thinking of analysis, discussion and planning. Each of you has his rich experience and accomplishments. Prof. Benjamin Bental and Prof. Dan Peled, senior researchers at the Samuel Neaman Institute, were interviewed on the radio program "The Color of Money" - an economic journal on Reshet Bet about the shortage of engineers in Israel and if this shortage even exist?

The ORT Braude College of Engineering held the 7th National Industry-Academy Conference on "Personal Growth and Quality of Life: Engines for Innovation and Fertility in the Organization" in memory of Prof. Yohanan Arazi. Mr. Giora Shalgi, former Rafael CEO and senior research fellow at the Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Research participated in the conference.During the conference, Giora participated in a panel discussion on issues of workers in traditional and renewable industries.

Dr. Reuven Gal held a roundtable at the Samuel Neaman Institute on the topic: "Examination of Alternatives Institutions of Higher Education for Ultra-Orthodox", as part of the "integration of ultra-Orthodox" project.

The purpose of the discussion was finding possible alternatives - including separate higher education institutions - to promote the integration of the Ultra-Orthodox, men and women, into higher education institutions in Israel. This cooperation was done with Ms. Adina Bar-Shalom, founder of the Haredi College in Jerusalem.

The chemistry teacher Or Shav-Artza from Shipman school attended and spoke at the prestigious ICS. His research is conducted as part of his M.Sc. studies at the Technion under the guidance of Prof. Yehudit Judy Dori, Dean of the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology and Senior Researcher at the Samuel Neaman Institute.

 This study focuses on factors affecting chemists' and chemical engineers' career choice and might contributes to better understanding how to foster students to study chemistry or related fields and peruse a career in chemistry. The study is funded by ISF and the Samuel Neaman Institute.  

Dr. Gilead Fortuna participated on February 9 at a think tank meeting of the Ministry of Economics in Tel Aviv, Which dealt with the issue of promoting advanced production in Israel and organized by the Strategy Division of the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

Prof. Ofira Ayalon was interviewed following the implementation of this law and pointed negative issues of law on the one hand, and effective solutions to reduce this nuisance, on the other hand. Interview with Dr. Reuven Gal, a senior research fellow at the Samuel Neaman Institute, at the IDF radio (GALAZ). The interview came following the trial of the soldier Elor Azaria and the subsequent public reactions.   
Dr. Gal focused on issues regarding the legitimacy given to the army by the Israeli society and the implications stemming from the fact that the IDF has been involved, already for a long time, in constabulary missions.   Such missions frequently involve civilian citizens and are prone to conflicts and troubles.
